Serving Our Community, One Breakfast at a Time
Join us on the first Saturday of every month!
Café Compassion is Zion Lutheran Church’s monthly pancake breakfast ministry, bringing neighbors together for delicious food, friendship, and fellowship. We also offer fun, seasonal crafts for children and adults.
We need 11–12 volunteers each month to make this ministry possible. Whether you enjoy cooking, serving, welcoming guests, or helping behind the scenes, there’s a place for you!
Volunteer Opportunities
Setup & Preparation
- Setup Crew: Arrange tables, chairs, and serving stations before breakfast.
- Coffee Preparation: Brew regular and decaf coffee and keep it available throughout breakfast.
Kitchen & Food Service
- Pancake Cook: Prepare pancakes and keep the serving line supplied.
- Sausage Cook: Grill sausage throughout the morning.
- Biscuits & Gravy Cook: Prepare gravy, warm biscuits, and replenish serving supplies.
- Food Servers: Serve pancakes, sausage, biscuits, and gravy to guests.
- Beverage Server: Keep coffee supplies, juice, and water available.
Hospitality & Activities
- Greeter: Welcome guests, track attendance, and collect free-will offerings.
- Craft Helpers: Assist children and adults with monthly craft activities.
Behind-the-Scenes Support
- Inventory & Shopping: Check supplies and shop for needed items before breakfast.
- Food Preparation: Help prepare ingredients ahead of time.
- Cleanup Crew: Clean equipment, tables, and kitchen areas after breakfast.
When Do Volunteers Help?
First Saturday of Every Month
- Setup: Begins around 6:45 AM
- Breakfast Service: 8:30–10:30 AM
- Cleanup: 10:30–11:15 AM
- Shopping & Preparation: Flexible times during the preceding week
You don’t have to volunteer for the entire morning. Choose a role that fits your interests and availability.
